SGK (NYSE: SGK), a leading global brand development, activation and deployment company that drives brand performance, announced today that its Asia Pacific branding leader, Steve McGinnes, managing director, brand development group, APAC, will give an introductory presentation and lead the panel discussion on “In their Prime – Grow Up with Your Customers and Make it Lifelong” at the 2014 World Retail Congress on Wednesday, July 2, at 14:00 in Shanghai, China.

McGinnes will address this elite group of retail industry leaders on how retailers often don’t have the luxury of focusing on one consumer segment and instead need to find ways of addressing multiple generations at once – each with distinctly different value systems, desires and relationships with brands.

“With crucial changes in China’s society over the past four decades, the Chinese generation gap is very pronounced,” commented McGinnes. “In this session, we’ll explore strategies, tools and tactics to build your brand offer in a way that can connect across multiple audiences – from seven to 70 years olds – to help drive brand performance.”

McGinnes added: “Smart retailers are learning how to create connections between the brand and the consumer – building consumer connections with different generations and different cultures is key to encourage purchase. Brands that perform inspire trial, loyalty, advocacy and repeat purchase. Brands perform because they’re desirable.”

World Retail Congress China (developed in partnership with the China Chain Store & Franchise Association) will launch in July 2014, taking its place alongside the other events in the World Retail Congress Series established in 2007. The event in Shanghai has been specifically designed for both domestic and international retailers, for those already operating in the market as well as those looking to expand into China.
