The Art of Courage: Strengthening Chicago’s Creative Community
Last week, SGK and Schawk hosted CreativeMornings at our location in Chicago — a breakfast lecture series for the creative community. We started off the morning by fueling up on Dark Matter Coffee, Do-Rite Donuts, and healthy Farmer’s Fridge bowls.
Did we mention the photo booth?!
The speaker, Lauren Pacheco delivered an amazing presentation on her experience facing adversities during her time creating an emerging arts non-profit exhibition space and creative-use organization, Chicago Urban Art Society.
Under Lauren’s leadership, the Chicago Urban Art Society has become a resource to policymakers and has helped engage in the public dialogue about issues that impact artists and creative enterprises.
She has consistently taken the initiative to strengthen and unite Chicago’s diverse arts community. She has worked hard to bring the arts to a broader audience and bridge cultural sector programming. She also spoke about the Lowrider Festival she has also co-founded, her new project Destination Gary, and some of the things she has learned along the way.
The moral of the story; we must have the courage to carry on through struggles and do the things we’re passionate about.
